So everything began with the script, which carried the viewer through a variety of job sites as well as a CAT dealership, showing the wide reach of CAT equipment and the full customer experience. There was a lot of fun to be had scouting, planning, organizing of machinery and attachments, and some light previs to make sure we knew exactly what machines were needed, in which scenes, at what angles, and at what heights. By the time we were ready for production we had everything mapped out so we could be super efficient on set and knew exactly how everything needed to look. Some machinery dirty, some dealer clean, and each with specific attachments for their suited environment and task.
We filmed some portions (like actors walking on treadmills) in the studio and some portions (obviously the massive machines) on-site at the Clayton, NC CAT facility. In other words we got to spend a whole day playing outside with CAT equipment and while I’m sure we’ve done other equally fun shoots, none are immediately coming to mind.
